So how exactly does this work? Do we contact you first? Instaban and then contact you? Instaban and then wait for blankfist to blog about it? How are we supposed to deal with non-starred members (who can't be hobbled), who are long-term members (so they're apparently allowed to be blatantly racist once in a while), when they violate the "rules" regarding hate speech here?

It's definitely racist and against the guidelines. If BK was a "P" it would be grounds for instant banishment - however, I think we should give longstanding members either a temporary suspension or warning depending on the infraction - before permanent banishment. In this case, I think a warning is in order, which I'm going to rescind BK's banishment to. Thanks.

I have a love/hate relationship with that invocation. I think it's great for people who are actually spamming the site (ie. leaving a bunch of spam comments etc everywhere). I don't think it's good to use on people who self-link .. mostly because it removes any comments they might have had in defense of their sift.
